18th Annual BASF/Wholesale Electric
Walk for Habitat
November 5, 2016
The annual Walk for Habitat for Humanity is scheduled for Nov. 5th at MacLean Park in Lake Jackson. The pre-walk pep rally, including registration and live entertainment, is from 8 to 9 a.m., when the walk will begin.
Walk for Habitat was founded 18 years ago with two primary goals: to teach young children about the spirit of volunteerism and giving back to one’s community, and to support Habitat for Humanity of Southern Brazoria County.
This year is particularly memorable as it will coincide with completion of Habitats 100th home. We currently build 4-5 houses a year, which ranks us as the top 12% of Habitat for Humanity affiliates nationwide for the number of houses built per population served (100,000).
Habitat for Humanity of Brazoria County was incorporated February 2, 1991. Trustees and Directors were Mary Ruth Rhodenbaugh, Bill Belgard and Margaret R. Neil. It was given affiliate status with Habitat for Humanity in June of 1991. The name was changed to Habitat for Humanity of Southern Brazoria County in 1998. We serve Brazoria, West Columbia, Angleton, Richwood, Lake Jackson, Freeport Sweeny and Clute.
The Walk for Habitat is held annually. It began in 1999 and was initially sponsored by BASF and Wholesale Electric. You too can become a sponsor by making a donation.
